Veneers are an excellent way to redesign and reshape your entire smile. Veneers are very thin porcelain shells that cover your existing tooth structure. In placing these new veneers on your teeth, we are able to fix esthetic issues such as staining, cracked teeth, spaces, misaligned teeth, chipped teeth and more.
In terms of the process to place veneers, it is often completed in the same day. However, for some cases, we need to work with a dental laboratory and then the process is split into two appointments a couple weeks apart. Before beginning the case, we will discuss the new shape and look of what we are going to accomplish by placing the veneers. Once we have put a plan in place, we will carefully prepare the teeth for the placement of the new veneers. As we complete this part of the process, the next step is to use our intraoral digital scanner to electronically produce a 3D model of your teeth so that the veneers can be made to fit in the spot created for them, and match the surrounding teeth.
Then, if we are able to complete the case same day by milling the veneers on site, you will have a short break in your appointment to relax while we use the digital software to design the porcelain veneers. Once the design is ready, our in-office milling unit mills your custom veneers out of blocks of porcelain.
In some cases, the digital scans will be sent to our laboratory for the final product to be fabricated. We only utilize the highest standard laboratory for fabrication of all of our work. This process at the laboratory takes between 10-14 days. While the new veneers are being fabricated at the lab, we will provide you with a beautiful temporary solution to wear for this time.
Once the veneers are ready (whether fabricated in house or at the dental laboratory) and we are happy with the result, they will be bonded into place on your teeth. As the veneers are finalized, we will make every effort to make sure that your new veneers feel just like your natural teeth and you can enjoy your new smile for a very long time!
